A new trailer for Robert Pattinson crime thriller, Good Time, has been released ahead of the films arrival on the big screen in August and it’s looking very intense with a strong performance for the Twilight and The Lost City Of Z star. Having premiered well at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, the latest film from directorial brother duo Benny and Josh Safdie, it’s shaping up to be a potential surprise hit at the box office.
The new trailer builds on the potential of the previous teaser we saw and adds to the large streams of critical praise the film has picked up since its premiere at Cannes to set the film up for a good release on the big screen. It’s been slated for release in the UK on the 11th August 2017, and we’ll be surprised if it isn’t already on a fair few watch lists, not least of all for the legion of Robert Pattinson fans out there.
As you’d expect, he features heavily in the latest trailer and he looks like he’s putting in the performance of history as Connie, the elder of two brothers that get wrapped up in a life of crime. It also shows a little more of director Benny Safdie as his brother Nick, who gets locked up and put in a bad way forcing Connie to go to extremes in a bid to getting out to safety.
There is more presence for the support cast too as we get to see Barkhad Abdi (Blade Runner 2049) and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) in their roles in the film. It feels like a great ensemble cast and we’re looking forward to seeing the full film when it comes out in cinemas in August, not least of all because it looks like it could go any of a million different ways before it gets to the end.
Good Time trailer:
The cinematography look stunning, taking full advantage of the bright lights big city fear of New York, which is the setting for their Gracie crime drama that is Good Time. There’s a skillful delivery of bright colour and dark tones all at once, which gives the scenes in the trailer such a vivid impact.
This is counterbalanced with an unswerving dedication to creating a real-life framework for the film with every character looking like they could easily have been pulled in from the street. Robert Pattinson leads this visual concept brilliantly, but he’s got great support from Benny Safdie, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Barkhad Abdi from the look of the scenes they appear in.
The music that brilliantly overshadows the trailer is called The Pure And The Damned and it’s been created by experimental American musician Daniel Lopatin under his recording alias Oneohtrix Point Never, along with the rest of the Good Time score. It features Iggy Pop and if it’s anything to go by, the rest of the composition should be incredible.
