God of War Ragnarok how to beat the Alfheim Berserkers

If you’re making your way through the God of War Ragnarok end game then you’re bound to want to know how to beat the Alfehim Berserkers. Most of the others are relatively easy to take on, but this boss fight has three Berserkers at once and that is why its so tough to defeat them.

They’ve got some mad moves, so just when you think you’ve got a chance to inflict some damage a Bifrost orb sneaks up on you and breaks you little heart. Focus on one and the others gang up on you and you partner assistant is about as much use as chocolate underpants in a sauna.

If that isn’t enough to confound you, there’s a massive swing in terms of strategy for the Alfheim Berserkers, as they switch up their tactics between fights. This makes it very difficult to know exactly what they’re going to do at any time and in what order.

However, with the tips below you should be in a much better position to beat Svipdagr the Cold and the Sisters of Illska. It’s easy to get frustrated with this boss fight, but don’t give up and keep focusing on the process and you should be able to to put them behind you.

There’s no way to re-fight the bosses, so it’s a good way to give you more possibilities after you beat the end game. You’ll also have a better idea about what works once you defeat the Alfhein Berserkers for the first time, so you might want to see if you can improve upon your first run.

Alfheim Berserkers tips

The strategy to beat the Alfheim Berserkers in God of War Rangnarok is built on a few key points with the first being to defeat the Sisters of Illska first before taking on Svipdagr the Cold. To do this, you’re going to start the boss fight looking a little to the right to fire Runic arrows at the second sister and then Realm Shift dodge Svipdagr’s jumping attack.

As soon as that happens, sprint on over to the Sister that you were firing arrows at, continually firing along the way, and jump light attack with a second light attack. Svipdagr won’t give you much time, even with Realm Shift, so you’ll need to dodge left or right to avoid him jumping you again.

The other key points are that you want to load damage against the sisters early on in the Alfheim Berserkers boss fight to take advantage of the Niflheim Enchantment set bonus, which gives Kratos increased melee damage when health is above 75%. You’re more likely to have more health early in fight, so you need to do as much damage on the two sisters quickly to take advantage of this buff.

The other buff that you’re going to use to beat them is Reckless Empowerment Accessory, which gives you a significant increase in all damage when Runic Arrows are fully depleted, which is why you’re going to need to spam them throughout your attacks on the sisters. You’ll add to this with the Emblem of the Nine Realms Enchantment, which increases melee damage during Realm Shifts.

Repeat the process of Realm Shift dodging Svipdagr and immediately running to try to defeat the Sisters, depleting Runic Arrows throughout. You can Realm Shift his yellow attacks just as easily as his jumping attacks, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities.

If you need to see all of this in action you can check out the walkthrough video below when it goes live. You’ll see that after the second or third dodge use the Hilt of Hofud Realm Shift Relic when you get close to one of the Sisters and then do as much damage as you can.

You can use Seidr Exhale either just before or just after the Realm Shift Relic to add to the damage. Listen out for Svipdagr and get ready to dodge his attack once the Realm SHift wears off.

You should still have over 75% health and the Sisters of Illska will have around 30% of their health left. You can either go straight into Fury Rage or do another attack phase and unleash it afterwards, which will see you chipping more health away from the Alfheim Berserkers duo and return Kratos to full health.

Dodge out of the way of any of the Sisters ranged attacks and the orbs can be ovoided by rolling in a square shape, which you can see in the video. A couple more Realm Shift dodge phases and you’ll get the R3 prompt to beat the Illska part, leaving you just Svipdagr to defeat, which will be a lot easier solo.

Simply Realm Shift dodge his attacks and return fire to smash through his health bar. You should keep with the Blades throughout all of the Alfheim Berserkers boss fight and after a good few hits on Svipdagr solo you’ll have a full special attack meter, so use this with L1 + triangle and watch his health bar melt.

Cycle, rinse and repeat to beat Svipdar and that will give you the win against the toughest of the God of War Ragnarok Berserkers outside of the King Rolf finale. Alfheim will have one less problem to worry about and you can get back to smashing your way through the rest of the end game.
