For a long time now I had written French Connection off as a bit chavvie, but their new ad campaign and Autumn / Winter collection 2010 has made me re-evaluate my stance slightly. While both the ads and collection are a little hit and miss, on the whole the intention is positive. Steering away from previous tacky tendencies, the new look is brave, clever, sophisticated and witty, giving the range a distinct New York and Paris feel.
As with every collection, there are more than a few throw away items, however, there are more than a few badazz pieces to keep you man warm this winter, like this a pair of knitted mittens that look like they’d make excellent substitutes for boxing gloves, £15 (picture courtesy of French Connection)
If the gloves aren’t enough to keep you warm, there are some cool knitwear to choose from, like the cardigan (£75) and chunky textured wool jumper (£120 unfortunately) below (both pictures curtesy of French Connection).
Man, all you need to do now is to swear not to shave throughout winter and everything will be fine. With the money you save on razors and shaving foam you should be able to offset the cost of French Connection’s pricy knitwear.
