The F9 Fast & Furious 9 trailer 1 has powered up with nearly four minutes of action (see below) as the series is set to continue in 2020 and this time around Dom will have both Charlize Theron and John Cena to tackle. The trailer confirms the return of Theron as cyberterrorist Cypher who recruits Dom’s younger brother Jakob (Cena), who appears to have a weird rivalry with his big bro resulting in what looks like it’s going to be a worldwide battle of epic proportions.
The stakes are clearly going to be pretty high with the chat from Cypher talking about the duo teaming up to kill Dom, which seems all the more harsh with the reveal of his young family at the very beginning of the trailer. Despite the fact that he’s clearly got way more to lose now that doesn’t appear to have stopped Dom from taking things to the extremes to get the job done in F9.
Trailer 1 features some impressive stunts, including what appear to be the biggest in the Fast And Furious series to-date with Dom and Letty nox blasting over a cliff with a rope bridge cable as their only chance of safety. Obviously, the trailer doesn’t show how it works out, so it should act as a cliff hanger that will get fans of the series into cinemas when the release date lands May 2020.
There are plenty of other cool stunts with a huge armoured truck flipping over and what looks like a car smashing into someone as they ride on top of another car. They’re obviously throwing everything at Fast & Furious 9 to keep the momentum going for the series with more films and spin-offs sure to come in the not so distant future.
Hobbs & Shaw did a very gob job creating a new spin-off for the franchise last year, and then there’s the Racers cartoon that recently arrived on Netflix. Clearly there’s a lot of love for the various F&F crews and it’s going to be interesting to see how it all develops as the main series gets close to double figures.

More F9 trailer 1 blasts from the past
In addition to Charlize Theron and John Cena, the F9 trailer 1 also shows the return of Dom’s younger sister, Mia, played by Jordana Brewster. It’s clearly going to be a family saga of Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker proportions, and there’s still more with Deckard Shaw’s mum in the mix again played by Helen Mirren following her uncredited cameo in The Fate Of The Furious and full cast debut in Hobbs & Shaw.
With a lot of family history wrapped up in the story, you’d think that there was enough to keep fans happy, but Fast & Furious 9 has got even more up its more up its sleeve. The trailer reveals the miraculous survival of Han Lue (Sung Kang), who apparently didn’t die at the end of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
It king of let’s Deckard Shaw off the hook a little, having been responsible for Han’s death, giving him even more license to let the wheels spin some more with the Hobbs & Shaw spin offs. It also gives Dom yet another great driver to add to his team as he tries to fend off both Cypher and his seemingly murderous younger brother Jakob.
