It’s a far cry from the darker take on Dungeons and Dragons that featured in Stranger Things, but they’ve clearly gone with more of a slapstick approach to the adaptation. The group is led by thief and bard, Edgin (played by Chris Pine), and he’s got his mostly faithful muscle in barbarian warrior Holga (Michelle Rodriguez) and a little magic from hit-and-miss wizard-in-training Simon (Justice Smith). They go on to recruit a shape-shifting druid called Doric and a paladin called Xenk (Rege-Jean Page).
It’s the first film adaptation of the board game, so the success of the Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves DVD, Blu-ray or digital will depend heavily on reviews and word of mouth. The home media release date is well on its was for both the UK and North America, so the details below, along with the special features and extras, should give you something to aim for.

UK Blu-ray, digital and DVD release date latest
AdvertisementDungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves came out on March 31st, 2023, so the UK DVD, Blu-ray and standard digital should be in either July or August 2023. As mentioned above, the early access options should be your first opportunity to catch the film, but it’s worth bearing in mind the fact that Avatar 2 skipped on it entirely.
The actual dates will depend on the success of the film at the box office, which is why reviews and word of mouth will be so important for the debut. If it struggles to land big over the Easter holidays with so much competition to face then we could see early access with the likes of Amazon Prime’s Home Premier as early as June.

Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves is the only big new film out for its opening weekend, but with the success of John Wick Chapter 4, which released a week earlier, it’s far from an easy home run. It’ll also have the Mario Movie to take on a week later and there’s Joaquin Phoenix’s Beau Is Afraid a little further down the line. If all of this goes against the DnD movie the earlier estimates for the DVD, Blu-ray and digital release are going to be more likely.
The next holiday after Easter is the summer mid-term break so they might decide to put out the early access release in time for this. That would be the end of May, so it gives the film plenty of time to review its success and best timing for the home media launch.
North America release date latest

It’ll be a similar story for early access with the film now available to buy and rent with the higher price tags that comes with this. Distribution companies have been playing around with various different early access launches with some including rental, some only purchase and Avatar 2 skipping on it, but it looks like the Dungeons and Dragons movie is covering all bases.

With the film only out in cinemas this weekend, we won’t get the official Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves Blu-ray, 4K and Digital extras and special features for a while, but there’s a lot to go on already. For a start, it’s set in a fantasy realm with dragons, demons, wizards and shape-shifting druids, so all of this points to features on the CGI, cast and characters, lore and history of the board game and the environments that the group explore.
AdvertisementIt’s a comedy action adventure film, so there should be the usual gag reel and bloopers to add to the bundles. There should also be director commentary to talk through the film shot by shot in terms of what they were trying to achieve and how it all came together.
The Blu-ray and 4K versions are your best bet in terms of formats that usually include special features, but digital is worth checking out to see if it gets them too. There’s usually nothing on the DVD but this might be dependent on the projected success, so a smaller batch might be thrown in to boost sales.
