The Design Awards 2011 exhibition is just about to open at the Design Museum, in Bermondsey, London. Bringing together some of the best designs from around the world, the Brit Insurance Design Awards 2011 has 7 categories of design award: architecture, fashion, furniture, graphics, interactive, product and transport.
The shortlist for the awards were announced on the 17th January 2011 and includes the stunning Forest For A Moon Dazzler bamboo house in Costa Rica by British architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe, UNIQLO’s Jil Sander +J Autumn/Winter 2010 collection and the genius of Angry Birds by the dudes at Rovio.
The exhibition featuring all of the nominees will open at the Design Museum on the 16th February, but you’ll have to wait until 28th February for the Brit Insurance Design Awards 2011 for each of the categories to be announced.
However, the overall Design of the Year 2011 will not be released until the Design Awards 2011 ceremony on the 15th March 2011. The architecture entrants look very strong this year with 111 Lincoln Road and the Balancing Barn adding to the simple beauty of A Forest of a Moon Dazzler, but the architectural detail of Angry Birds could be an outside shout to pick up something special too.
