The work of pioneering and experimental artist, David Askevold is about to open at the Camden Arts Centre. David Askevold: The Disorientation Scientist is an exposition of his seminal work in the 70s and presents the first dedicated exhibition of his material in the UK.
Working from the end of the 1960s up until his death in 2008 in various media, including video, sound, photography and text, Askevold is one of Canada’s most expressively experimental artists.
The Disorientation Scientist exhibition will combine his most celebrated installations and performances, as well as some of his collaborations with fellow artists Mike Kelley and Tony Oursler.
With a beat-like celebration of freedom of expression and the documentation of experiences without rigid structures, Askevold has gone on to inspire many. His works are usually tucked away over the pond in the National Gallery of Canada and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, so the Disorientation Scientist is a great opportunity to see Askevold’s work.
