Having completed the first consignment of 51 Dave Gorman Gets Straight To The Point* (The PowerPoint) gigs in 2014, the presentation loving comedian and writer has confirmed that he’s going to kick it all off again later in 2015 with another series of tour dates. The 39 date show will be an opportunity for anyone that missed it the first time around, or any die-hard repeats offenders, to see the stand-up comedy set that sold out every one of its previous gigs, so it’ll be interested if the PowerPoint loving funny man can do it all over again in 2015.
For anyone that hasn’t worked out the direction the show will take, it’s essentially going to be a mighty mashup of the sometimes crazy, sometimes inspired thoughts that pop into Dave’s head, stand-up comedy and a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation of epic proportions. If you’re not a big fan of electronic pointers then you might want to move right along now, but if you’re keen on a little paginated humour then this could be the show for you.
It’s a stand-up style that Dave apparently came up with as a result of the second half of his Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop And Sit Down tour, which brought him back to his old big screen prob once again. Now, it’s firmly back at the heart of his comedy, taking its place as the focal point of his stand-up in the same way as it did with his earliest TV appearances on shows like Googlewhack.
The 2015 tour dates will be taking place in venues across the UK throughout October and November later in the year with Dave Gorman making the trek between Truro in Cornwall to Dunfermline in Scotland with a whole lot in between. The first date on the schedule is in Hereford on the 4th October 2015 at the Courtyard Theatre and it’s down to close out on the 28th November 2015 at Cardiff’s St David’s Hall, but unlike his Sit Down… tour, he won’t be cycling between venues.
The news about the tour comes with the added bonus of confirmation that he will also be completing the third series of his Modern Life Is Goodish TV show for Dave in 2015, continuing what is starting to look a lot like self adulation spilling over onto his choice of television channels. The new round of hour long shows will see him continue to boggle at the sheer brilliance and equal amounts of problems our modern day lives throw at us, for example the brilliance of next generation gaming, but the catch 22 of never having enough time to play.
The recordings of the shows will take place in May, June and July 2015 and the show will more than likely to begin to air (be shown on tele, not start to dry out) in September, according to Dave himself. Although, he’s not 100% sure according to his website, but he’s just going on the fact that it’s the same time period that the last 2 series went out.
