Dave Gorman has been a PowerPoint loving mentalist for as long as we can remember and he whipped out the presentation package once again for his 2014 show, Dave Gorman Gets Straight To The Point* (The PowerPoint). Setting out his presentation stall in October, November and December, the winter tour dates saw the comedian and writer taking his insights into life in general and condensing them into a slide deck of wonder, or something along those lines anyway.
The touring show began on Friday the 3rd October 2014 at Winchester’s Theatre Royal, but the bad news was that it had already sold out at the time of writing, along with the next five nights of the tour, highlighting either the love on the part of the UK stand-up comedy going citizenry for PowerPoint presentations, Dave Gorman or a combination of both. The next available date was at the Brighton Comedy Festival on Saturday the 11th October 2014, but there were a total of 51 dates throughout the tour, so there were plenty of opportunities to see the comedian, although each of them went on to sell out in the end.
Tickets were still available for stop offs in Cardiff, High Wycombe, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Liverpool, London, Reading, Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool, but you can see details for of the all forty nine tour dates below. The PowerPoint power play closied with four shows at London’s Southbank Centre on the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th September 2014, so if you couldn’t get tickets to see Dave in your home town, there was the potential of a trip to London to compensate.
If that isn’t enough, Dave also dusted off the lint, cobwebs and old sweet wrappers from his stand-up comedy presentation skills with a few warm-up gigs for the tour. This included two nights in Andover’s The Lights Theatre on the 23rd and 24th September 2014, another two at The Slade Rooms in Wolverhamption on the 29th and 30th September 2014 and a final date at The Court Theatre in Tring on the 1st October.
The Dave Gorman Gets Straight To The Point* (The PowerPoint) 2014 tour came on the back of his return to TV with the second series of Modern Life Is Goodish to the British television channel, Dave. It started again on the 9th September 2014 and aired every Tuesday night at 9pm, until it drew to a close later this year. if you’ve missed it, you can try catching up on some of them at Dave On Demand. Dave (Gorman this time) has confirmed that the set for the new tour hasn’t been taken from his Modern Life Is Goodish series, so it was made up of all new material.
In addition to the TV series, Dave Gorman has also written some pretty successful comedy books over the years, including Too Much Information, which had its hardback release in 2013 before being published in paperback on the 5th June 2014, and Dave Gorman vs The Rest of the World, which was published in 2010 in hardback and 2011 in paperback.
