Things are getting pretty excellent in the build up to the Bill & Ted 3 release in the summer and the latest new arrival is the teaser poster and gif, which you can see in full below. There isn’t much to it as such, with no action from the film included in the gif, but there is more than enough from the simple but iconic visuals to add to the excitement for the return of Bill & Ted and they’re epic adventures.
The poster is essentially a still from the more extended gif that focuses on the time travelling phone booth that kickstarted things for the duo in the very first film when they travelled back in time to help them pass their school tests. The gif contains some simple CGI and special effects animations to bring the phone booth to life with a crackle of lightning that looks very very cool.
The new artwork arrived over the Super Bowl weekend and while it doesn’t show much it’s instantly one of the most exciting things to come out around then. Obviously it would’ve been even more impressive if Keanu and Alex had appeared on stage at the Hard Rock Stadium in a phone box to join J Lo and Shakira for rendition of God Gave Rock ‘n’ Roll To You but hey, we’ll take what we can get with Bill & Ted 3.
The gif also adds more confirmation to the UK release date, although the slightly more amorphous “in theatres summer 2020” was initially a bit of a worry, but them it’s followed up with the date, 21st August 2020. You can find out more about the film release at www.tuppencemagazine.co.uk/bill-and-ted-face-the-music-uk-release-date-age-rating-and-parents-guide/ or check out the Orion Pictures website at https://orionpictures.com to see more on the production.
Bill & Ted Face The Pickup
The gif and poster weren’t the only things to come out over the Super Bowl weekend for Bill & Ted Face The Music. There was also a huge advert for Walmart Pickip shopping service featuring both the original and modern day Bill S. Preston esquire getting on the futuristic action alongside the aliens from Mars Attacks, Men In Black, the characters from The Lego Movie 2, Marvin the Martian and Groot from Guardians Of The Galaxy.
There’s also the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek, a flying Flash Gordon squadron, the beings from Arrival, which is one of the best bits, and R2-D2 and C3P-O from Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker. It looks like one of the most expensive TV commercials ever made, and it definitely gets a lot of cred for including one half of the Bill & Ted 3 duo.
It’s one of our first opportunities to see Alex Winter back in character and it looks like he never went away. It looks like the audio is a little out of sync for the part where they say excellent, but that’s definitely down to the ad team working for Walmart Pickup, but other than that it does a lot to build the anticipation for the August 21st 2020 release date.
