2012:
On the back of the brilliance of his second solo album, The Rookery, Chris Helme kick started his 2012 tour with a show at the Surya in London on the 2nd October 2012. Returning from a long break since his last release with The Yards in 2009, Helme took to the road with another 12 dates following the Surya gig.
There weren’t all that many locations on the tour, so if you did manage to catch him play tracks from The Rookery around its release then you may have had to do a little travelling to get there.
The occassionally also plays a few of the tracks from the Seahorses days, so old school fans will have probably put in the effort to hear the likes of Love Is The Law and Blinded By The Sun live all over again. If you haven’t had a chance to hear any of the material from his second album, you can get a listen to preview track, Good To Be In Love, at our initial write up of Chris Helme’s return with The Rookery. You can also read our review of the album at www.tuppencemagazine.co.uk/chris-helme-the-rookery-review/.
The tour dates included a fly-by into Herne Bay with Simon and Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene supporting, as well as a few gigs with Mark Morriss of Bluetones fame.
