The BBC has today confirmed the air date for Peter Kay and Sian Gibson comedy sequel, Car Share Series 2, bringing back assistance manager John Redmond and promotions assistant Kayleigh Kitson to drive each other crazy once again. The first episode will be going out on BBC 1 at 9pm on Tuesday the 11th April 2017, so hopefully we’ll get to see whether or not the non-doggers end up finding a place to park, or just keep things ticking over for the the second series.
There’s only going to be four episodes in total, so there’s not that much room for things to progress too much further than the minor attraction that looked like it was starting at the end of Series 1. However, the Beeb has confirmed that the rest of the episodes will be available immediately after the transmission of episode 1 next Tuesday, so you’ll be able to crash binge through the rest of the mini box set on the same night to find out how things get on. If you want to keep watching in more traditional weekly installments, it’ll be on for the next three Tuesdays on BBC1 at 9pm.
What we know for sure about the story for the second outing is that it’s not going to be easy for the front seat duo, because the Car Share scheme that threw them together the last time around has been scrapped. As a result they’ll be making the daily commute to work in Series 2 alone, so either they’re destined to go their separate ways or they’ll end up missing each other and decide to shack up with a semi in Little Lever, Over Hulton or Blackrod.
Last series featured six episodes that saw the Car Share scheme bringing John and Kayleigh together in John’s Fiat 500L with a lot of laughs along the way, so we’re hoping for more great comedy moments in the new series. With the infamous dogging episode, along with the great forever FM music and news, random chat from Kayleigh and potential romance on the cards there’s a lot for the new series to build on.
We’re loving the promo shot for Car Share Series 2 above with it’s glamorous style overlooking a Fiat 500L parked in a car park somewhere in and around Bolton. If the four episodes have got as much tongue-in-cheek humour then it should be one to catch, especially with all of the episodes going up at once.
