Bob’s Burgers Series 2 had been flipping episodes of cheese and relish brilliance on Channel 4 throughout the year in 2012 and they’ve been funnier than laughing gas on kali. While a DVD hasn’t yet been announced for Season 2, and episodes on 4OD have pretty much dried up, they are available to download from iTunes, which is good news for burger and cartoon fans alike.
The second series is crammed with brilliant parodies including The Goonies in episode 1, The Belchies, with Tina, Gene and Louise heading out under the cover of darkness to find the treasure rumoured to be hidden at the infamous local taffy factory.
This is backed up in the second episode, Bob Day Afternoon, with Bob going toe to toe negotiating with a bank robber that takes the building society (conveniently placed over the road) hostage. The whole family ends up getting involved in the end and Bob gets a pretty big promise from his wife Linda (hopefully she paid up fair and square Bobby).
There are nine episodes of rolled comedy gold in the series 2, and at the moment the only way to get hold of them is to download them from iTunes. The first series was only released on DVD in the States and available on a rare import, so it doesn’t look likely that season 2 will be released as a DVD in the UK either.
The animation for Bob’s Burgers Series 2 is the same old school style of the opening season, but the sheer love and attention given to the production, combined with the genius of the story and script, and the amazing performances of H. Jon Benjamin (Bob), John Roberts (Linda), Dan Mintz (Tina), Eugene Mirman (Gene) and Kristen Schaal (Louise) from Flight of the Concords gives the animated comedy its only perfect delivery.
