Big Deal return with Teradactol

Big Deal (band)Big Deal are back just in time for the end of 2012 with a new track with a prehistoric connection. Teradactol is their latest offering (streamed below) and as the name suggests, it’s a flying beast of a song.

Following up on their melodic 2011 debut, Lights Out, the new track takes the band into the belly of the beast with chunked up guitar and hard hitting drums. Alice Costelloe’s vocals are just as pristine as before, but they’ve got the added power of a more grunge guitar sound from Kacey Underwood. There’s also a distored guitar riff that’s as endemic as they come.

The band has added drums and bass to the mix for their latest work, building on the stripped back guitar and vocals that made Lights Out stand out so well. However, it’s a move that seems to suit them.

Recorded by Rory Attwell (Veronica Falls) Teradactol opens up all sorts of possibilities for future Big Deal creations, adding a lot to their more sparten past recordings.

The release of the track comes as Big Deal set about their final live date of 2012 at the 100 Club on the 3rd December supporting Splashh. For ticket information, visit https://www.atpfestival.com/events/splashh100club/tickets.php.

However, the big news is that the release of Teradactol comes on the back of news that the band are finishing off their follow-up album for release in 2013. Flying in the face of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, the band have plans for a big 2013.
