It’s hard to think of a wilder trailer from 2022, so here are the latest details on the Babylon rent online release date. It came out in theaters in North America at the end of 2022 and the UK cinema date was the 20th January 2023, so a split in the home rental schedule could well be on the cards too.
As well as the different schedules, the availability of Babylon online will have retailer variations to take into account for early access. After that there’s the longer wait for the less expensive regular rental, so we’ll cover all of the latest details that we can find on the release date.
AdvertisementThe director and writer for the film is Damian Chazelle, who follows up his success with Whiplash and La La Land. It’s his boundary-pushing his ode to the early days of talking movie, set in Hollywood during the 1920s as silent cinema begins to fade out.
It stars Diego Calva, an aspiring film-maker and Mexican emigrant looking to make his mark on the industry. He befriends up-and-coming starlet, Nellie LaRoy, played by Margot Robbie (Barbie), and inebriated veteran actor Jack Conrad, played by Brad Pitt (The Lost City), on his way to the top.
AdvertisementThere will be other options to watch the film in addition to the Babylon rent online release date, so we’ll take you through those at the bottom of the page. We’ll kick things off with early access options like Home Premier on Amazon Prime, and then cover the latest on the standard options.

Early access rental
As usual, you’ll get to see Babylon from the comfort of your sofa with early access or home premier rental. This will most likely be around 45-60 days after the initial release date on the big screen in the UK and as early as 15-30 days in North America, depending on the success at the box office.
AdvertisementIt came out in cinemas in North America on the 23rd December 2022, so for US audiences it looks like it’s going to be a little longer before you can rent online. With the January release in the UK we probably won’t get to see the home premier rental in Britain until later in March.
Providers like Amazon Prime, iTunes and the Google Play Store will all be options to rent Babylon with early access online. You should also be able to buy the film digitally during the early access phase with the new release setup for home entertainment. It’ll be a higher price than the DVD, Blu-ray and later digital version, but you get it months earlier.
Babylon rent online release date
The trailer paints a picture of a wild ride for Babylon, but there’s a lot of competition at the box office with Avatar 2 and Puss In Boots The Last Wish dominating ticket sales. If you miss the run and you’re waiting on the standard digital rental release date then that should be around March-April 2023 in North America.
As it’s due out later in UK cinemas, you’ll then have to wait a little longer. Easter might be too good an opportunity to miss out on for DVD, Blu-ray and digital purchase. However, the cheaper price to rent online could land after the holidays to give the home entertainment film sales enough time to make the most of things in the United Kingdom.
We normally get the standard price rent online release a week or two after the DVD, Blu-ray and standard price digital purchase. If that’s the case here that gives us an estimates for the UK availability to be around late-April/May to see it on iTunes, Amazon Prime Video and the Google Play store at the lower price.
The exact date is yet to be confirmed and will depend heavily on the success of Babylon at the box office. We’re also starting to see shorter and shorter windows for standard rental home entertainment, so we’ll update things here as they change.
AdvertisementFor example, Black Adam wasn’t available to rent from Amazon Prime Video the last time we checked. This is despite the fact that its release date for both the UK and US was in October 2022. As you can see there’s a lot to take into account for home premier and standard rental, so we’ll try to keep you updated here.

Where can I watch the film online?
It has recently been confirmed that the online streaming partners for Babylon will be Paramount+. It stands to reason considering the fact that the film was distributed by Paramount Pictures, but the service is only available in North America. It’s already available to stream, but there’s nothing in terms of when it might come to the UK.
Amazon Prime Video gets the occasional Paramount Pictures film, so it’s another possibility, especially in the UK with no Paramount+ available. Disney+ doesn’t have any affiliation to Paramount, and Netflix doesn’t really get films from them either. The best options to watch the film online will be Amazon Prime, iTunes and the Google Play Store with the early access rental details above.
Although, the fact that it’s available to stream on Paramount+ could be an indicator that it will get a long run before you get to rent it online.
Is it possible to watch Babylon on Hulu?
As is the case with Disney and Netflix above, Paramount isn’t linked to Hulu, so streaming Babylon there is highly unlikely. Hulu is made up of Disney and NBC Universal for the most part, so unless Paramount joins them or changes its distribution model entirely it’s not really on the cards.
