We’ve seen a lot of Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, but Ubisoft is bound to be doing everything that it can to keep the final boss fight under wraps. In fact, we’ve had the reveal trailer and a gameplay overview and we still haven’t seen much in the way of bosses at all.
However, it’s an open world Ubisoft title, so they’re bound to be in the mix if you look at other comparable games from the developers. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 5 had some pretty visceral boss fight and they’re final encounters with big, so that should be the case again with Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.
AdvertisementWe’re bound to get more videos from Ubisoft in the run-up to the release date for the game, so we might get to see at least a few of the bosses before it comes out. However, there’s at least a little to go on in terms of who the final boss might be in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, but obviously it comes with the usual spoiler alert.
We could be way off base, but equally we might get it spot on, so if you don’t want to hear our predictions for the final boss then this is the moment to check out. Who will be the final boss in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora
Looking at the trailer and gameplay overview video, there’s only really one candidate for the Avatar Frontiers of Pandora final boss. You get to see him early in the overview as you find out more about the back story for the game, which is split between two timelines.
To begin with, the story begins as the RDA push into the Western Frontier of Pandora, an area that hasn’t yet been explores in the Pandora universe. Here, they kidnap young Na’vi and train them to fight on their side to help against the might of the clans of the area.
AdvertisementThe program is led by John Mercer, one of the leaders of the RDA, and while it’s only a fleeting glimpse of him, it’s enough to put his name forward for the final boss fight. You don’t see or hear anything about him for the rest of the gameplay overview video, but it’s enough to say he will probably be the main villain in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.

After your character is captured by the RDA, they get rescued by the Na’vi clans after the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains and you’re put into a cryo-chamber for fifteen years for some reason. It might be to do with an injury maybe or the methods the RDA used to make you one of them in the first place.
The point is that the game itself takes place 15 years after this, so you’ll be a fully grown Na’vi when you wake up and you’ll need to reconnect with your roots. To the same extent, John has had fifteen years to strengthen his own position and resolve and the game will see you fighting back against this.
That gives us an idea about who you’ll be up against in the final boss fight, but the question is how this will come together for the climax of the game. You can check out the section below for our thoughts on how this could go down to give Avatar Frontiers of Pandora the kind of ending it deserves.
Options for the final boss fight itself
AdvertisementWith the huge success of the 2009 film and The Way of Water, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora has got a lot to live up to and this extends to the final boss. It’s possible that it could end up being you versus a cornered and dangerous John Mercer, but the fact that he doesn’t have a military title is a good indicator that he might not be as well trained in combat as say Colonel Quaritch in Avatar 2.

That could mean nothing and we still might end up fighting him at the end man to Na’vi with him using all of his superior technology and firepower to help finish you off. However, there are a few alternatives that could work well for the final boss fight.
One of these is an extension of the superior technology front. It’s something that worked well in Horizon Forbidden West, Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid Snake Easter. The idea is that Mercer could construct a super weapons – probably a large robot or super exo-suit – and use that to close out the game.
Another alternative is that John will simply be the brains behind the operation, so more of a villain that pulls the strings. This is something that we saw recently in The Callisto Protocol with the warden of the space penitentiary masterminding everything, but the final boss being his mutagenic creation, Alpha.
AdvertisementThis could be that of the young Na’vi that were rescued fifteen years ago, one remained with the RDA and has been turned into its super enforcer. This could be a late game reveal and act as the final battle in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.

This would be even more emotive if the character used to be your character’s best friend when they were children, creating torn sentiments in the fight with similarities to Captain America and the Winter Soldier. Maybe, the ultimate aim will be to turn them back and remind them of your bond and their place with the Na’vi.
Finally, the game could go down a similar route to Avatar 2 with Mercer taking on Na’vi form himself in some way. This could simply be with an Avatar body like in the first film, or something more permanent as in The Way of the Water.
Either way, this would transform him from a pencil pushing, white collar corporate boss into a much more formidable foe. He will have had fifteen years since the incident that freed the young Na’vi, so it’s possible that he was injured during this and has been in Na’vi form ever since then.
With that much time to hone his skills he could well be pretty formidable when you face him once again. This could make for an epic final boss fight to close out Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, linking in well with the idea from the film.
