Assassin’s Creed Mirage tips and tricks

Assassin's Creed Mirage tips and tricks

It’s time to return to the path of the Hidden Ones with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, so here’s our rundown of the best tips and tricks we’ve got for the game. It’s set to be a return to the stealth-focused mechanics of the original games, so you might need some adjustment hacks to help you start the game well.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place in the round city of Baghdad in the 9th Century and while there are plenty of familiar mechanics, it’s also a much-changed proposition to the RPG spirit of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. That doesn’t mean that combat it completely off the table, but it definitely takes a back seat to silent kills.

Top 10 tips and tricks for Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Obviously, you can still try to retain the combat approach that you probably used in the last few games, but in Assassin’s Creed Mirage there’s more emphasis on stealth, so this will be the focus of our tips and tricks. However, we will throw in some must-know hacks to help out whenever you get caught by the guards.

#1. Red dye cloud

You don’t get the smoke bombs until a little later in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but there is another way to get the same kind of effect every now and again. Look out for large bags of red dye next to guards and you can set them off with a throwing knife.

This will send out a cloud of the dye to block the visions of the guards, leaving you free to get in close to silently assassinate them. Move quickly, though, because the cloud won’t stick around forever, so you could go from an easy assassination too a straight up fight if you don’t get the timing right.

#2. Lamp oil pots

In addition to the red dye clouds, you should also look out for lamp oil pits sitting next to enemies. You might think that setting these off will end stealth, but it doesn’t, so hit them with a throwing knife and you’ll trigger an explosion, giving you instant stealth kills without needing to get in close.

#3. Multi-enemy attacks to save on

Environmental opportunities are everywhere in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but you want to make them count by taking out multiple enemies in one. Hit old pots when there are two guards close to them to save your knives and do the same with hanging crates and red dye bags.

#4. Upgrade your throwing knives

When you first start out in Assassin’s Creed Mirage you’ll only have space for four throwing knives, which is why it’s so important to get the 241 kills mentioned above. However, you can upgrade them to take this up to six, which will come in handy when you’ve got bigger groups of enemies to take on later in the game.

#5. Parry, parry, parry

The combat in the game has some similarities to that of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom in that you need to build it all around the parry. Ideally, you stay hidden all of the time, but that doesn’t always work out and you’ll find yourself in combat situations, which can be fatal.

Try to take on guards individually, but either way you should be trying to parry white attacks and dodge red ones. A good parry will give you the opportunity to retaliate with an assassination and if you’ve got two or more enemies, you’ll need to do this multiple times to get the job done.

However, sometimes there will just be too many guards to take on comfortably, so try not to get into a fight with loads of enemies. If you find yourself in a storm of guards then you might be better off just running if you don’t want to de-synchronize.

#6. Chip away at heavy guards

If you find yourself facing a heavy guard then you’ll have the challenge of their armor to deal with. To get around this, you need to attack them from the back, so dodge around them and start swiping when they’re facing away from you, but watch your stamina as you go.

#7. Fix your notoriety

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has a notoriety meter, but the good news is that you can get it back down pretty easily. Look for the HUD markers for wanted posters and then take them down to reduce your notoriety by one. They’re pretty abundant, so easy to find. Make sure you don’t let your notoriety get up to level 4, because a trained hunter will come for you, which could slow you down.

#8. Sitting assassination

One of the coolest assassination options you have in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the sitting kill. Look out for benches to blend into and then whistle for a guard to come near. You’ll then prop them up in your space afterwards, making it look like they’re just taking a break.

#9. Upgrades

Just because it’s not an RPG iteration of Assassin’s Creed, that doesn’t mean that upgrades and customization are off the table. You can flex your weapons and armor by visiting tailors and blacksmiths and as long as you have the schematics and materials you’ll be able to add in more buffs.

#10. Take on contracts to unlock new outfits and weapons

Continuing on the gear tips, another big one is to take on contracts at the bureau. Some of these will come with rewards of new outfits and weapons, which will come in handy. Each of these will have their own perks and benefits, so the more you have the more options you’ll have to get the job done in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Combine this with the upgrade tip above and you’ll always stay in contention with the situations that develop throughout the main story. Check out your weapons and armor perks before you start a mission to see if you can find a better match for what you’ll be doing.
