Arctic Monkeys have been quietly working on their follow up album to 2011’s Suck It And See in the deserts of the Joshua Tree National Park, but they’ve just about found time to announce a series of gig slots at festivals around Europe. Though the announcement doesn’t stretch to a full 2013 UK tour, it does include a headline slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
However, if you’ve already missed the boat on Glastonbury (they’re taking registrations now by the way for cancelled tickets that will go on sale on the 21st April 2013), you might be better off going for one of the European festivals if you want a better chance of seeing them play some of their new material. Waiting for the full UK tour line-up is also an option and we’ll be updating this page as soon as they’re announced, but you’ll need to be mobilised on the day they go on sale to get tickets as they sell out fast.
Arctic Monkeys 2013 gigs:
June

If you’re wondering what to expect from some of the Euro gigs, there’ll be a pretty packed line-up of bands for each of them. Super Bock Super Rock Festival in Portugal, for example includes The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Queens of the Stone Age and Black Rebel Motorbike Club, as well as all the sunshine and Portuguese wine you want. Whereas, Piazza Castello in Ferrara, Italy, is a stand-alone gig in the courtyard of a massive castle in the north of Italy.
INmusic Festival in Zagreb, Croatia, features Bloc Party, Editors, Basement Jaxx and The Stooges, while Open’er Festival, Gdynia, Poland, includes Blur, Queens Of The Stone Age, Kings Of Leon, Animal Collective, Tame Impala, Skunk Anansie, Editors, Modest Mouse and Alt-J on its line-up.
There’s no news about a release date as of yet for the new Arctic Monkeys album, but it’s definitely coming soon.
