The German electronica of Sascha Ring’s Apparat has been confirmed to be back with their 4th album, The Devil’s Walk. Out on Mute Records on the 26th September 2011, The Devil’s Walk was apparently conceived on a trip to Mexico in early 2010, which sounds about as On the Road as modern music gets.
With writing help from Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv and Fredo Nogeurira, Ring holed up in a makeshift studio in the small town of Sayulita, Mexico to kick things off. Back in Europe, Apparat put the finishing touches to the album with the creative co-producer help of Patrick “Nackt” Christensen (formerly of electro-goth outfit Warren Suicide), re-working the Mexican material with esoteric inspiration.
You can listen to one of the first tracks from the The Devil’s Walk album, Black Water, below. It’s a slow building etherialite of the Sigor Ros variety. You can also hear elements of slowed down Arcade Fire and The Jesus and Mary Chain throughout the track.
Apparat will also be returning to the UK in October following their gig at the Scala in London in July. Dates include:
14 Oct – UK – Bristol – Arnolfini
16 Oct – UK – Brighton – The Haunt
17 Oct – UK – Leeds – Brudenell Social Club
18 Oct – UK – Manchester – The Ruby Lounge
