When Shooting Stars came back to last year, it could have all gone wrong for the show, but the random presence of Angelos Epithemiou, van man caterer, was the catalyst for another class series. Dead pan beyond comprehension and entrenched in seemingly unwitting comedy timing, Angelos stole the show.
The character of Angelos Epithemiou is the creation of comedian and actor Dan Renton Skinner (usually billed as Renton Skinner). In addition to Angelos, Skinner is also a part of the British 5 man sketch group Dutch Elm Conservetoire, nominated for the Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005. He has also been in The Armstrong and Miller show and the talk is that he’s currently writing an ITV2 sketch show with the Dutch Elm Conservetoire.
Over the next couple of months, Agelos’ extended pauses, song faux pas and infamous anorak will be ambling through the comedy circuits with anti-comedy brilliance. Catch him while some of his shows are still under a tenner.
