Yippie-ki-yay mother Russia! Bruce Willis is about to return as Captain John McClain with the release of A Good Day to Die Hard in 2013. While it will never be as good as the original or Die Hard 2, the trailer below makes it look like it could be a lot of fun, so get your socks off and start making fists with your feet.
The storyline takes Bruce to Russia for the latest installment, taking McClain outside of his US comfort zone for the first time in the series. However, this time around he won’t be fighting alone, he’s taking his son Jack (Pictured. Played by Aussie newcomer, Jai Courtney) along for the ride too, as they try to take down the terrorists that have put his son in danger.
Set for a UK release date on Valentine’s Day 2013, A Good Day to Die Hard appears to return the series to some of the elements that made the first two so brilliant. With a group of terrorists to contend with in a dangerous and unknown environment, McClain and his son are the rough round the edges heroes that stack up against what looks like a superior crack fighting force.
However, there’s also a shade or two of a 007 film about it in terms of the Russian setting and the presence of Yuliya Snigir as Irina, who could easily double as a Bond girl.
The Die Hard films of the past have been made by Bruce Willis’ David and Goliath role stacking up against a super villain of monumental prowess. In the original it was Alan Rickman, who was amazing, followed up brilliantly by William Sadler in Die Hard 2, so there’s a lot of pressure on the part of Sebastian Koch, who plays the film’s main antagonist terrorist, Komorov.
Though Bruce isn’t looking quite as fresh faced as he used to, A Good Day to Die Hard looks like it’ll be a good late entry into the series.
