Bringing Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Ray Liotta together, The Place Beyond the Pines is set for release in early 2013 following its premier at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier in 2012.

The crime drama is another serious acting role for Cooper, who impressed in Limitless, but is perhaps better known for his comedy role in The Hangover, The Hangover 2 and The A-Team.

The storyline for the film follows motorbike stunt rider, Luke Glanton, played by Gosling (Stupid, Crazy Love), as he turns his hand to crime in an attempt to give his young family a better life. Enter police officer and would be politician, Avery Cross (Cooper), and the two get locked on a collision course.

Eva Mendes plays Luke’s other half, Romina, as they’re reunited through the announcement that they had a son who was born before Luke took off a year before the film’s beginning. Ray Liotta is back on the badged side of law, starring as Officer DeLuca, who works the Glanton case with Cross. However, it’s hard to tell from the trailer below whether or not his old Goodfellas days are behind him or not.

The Place Beyond the Pines is directed by Derek Cianfrance, who worked with Gosling on 2010’s My Blue Valentine. It’s scheduled for release in the UK for April 2013, so Gosling, Liotta, Cooper and Mendes fans alike have got something to look forward to in spring.

With a multi-generational fathers and sons storyline, a high octane delivery and some very convincing acting, The Place Beyond the Pines looks like it could be one of the year’s most impressive films.
