The Last Leg returns to Channel 4 with a full series

The Last Leg hosts, Josh Widdicombe, Alex Brooks and Adam HillsFollowing on from the success of their London 2012 Paralympic Games wrap-up shows (which helped to light up the summer of sport) and their New Year look back, The Last Leg guys were confirmed to return to Channel 4 with a new, full length series and everything.

Episode 1 aired on Friday the 25th Jan 2013 at 9.30pm, with the rest of the series going out every Friday after that with a run of nine episodes in the second series of the show. Alex Brooker, Josh Widdicombe and Adam Hills were once again the shot-putt, triple-jumping hosts, but then it would have been pretty harsh to replace Widdi (The Combertan as we like to call him) just because the rest of them had hit the big time.

The big difference with the full series compared to the Paralympics daily wash-up shows is that they didn’t have impressive Olympian’s to rely on any more, so instead they turned their collective individual styles to bear on the big events of the week to make up the content of the series. If anything significant happens in the previous 7 days prior to an episode, it got galvanized into a steel ball of comedy at the hands of Alex, Josh and Adam.

However, there was at least one returning feature from the original with the come-back of the “Is It OK?” question slot, where the floor is opened up to the audience and the general public to find out what’s OK and what’s not. For example, Q: Is it OK to make a cake in the shape of Desmond Tutu’s head (from Jo Brand)? – A: Yes, so long as it’s done with love and a certain wry humour – or, Q: Is it OK to wear the equivalent of your body weight in jewelry? – A: only if you’re name starts with B and end in A, but that’s the last of your problems Saville!

While the follow-up series to their Paralympics opener has now finished, you can still get in on the Is It OK? action. If you’ve got a question you want to get off your chest still, all you need do is Tweet your question to @TheLastLeg using #IsItOK.

The Last Leg went on to complete the second series in the first half of 2013 and subsequently the third series in the summer of the same year. The 4th series airs on Channel 4 in January 2014, coinciding with the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
