Heroes of the Mexican Independence Movement, The Singer Inside Us All
One of the best releases of the year to-date and it’s free with the beautiful discretion of paying what you want for it. Heroes of the Mexican Independence Movement broke out of the sunshine and seaside of Hull over the last year or so and they’ve finally gotten around to recording their first single, The Singer Inside Us All.
Released with B-side, The Gift, a brilliant retelling of the Velvet Underground track of the same name, it’s a cool departure from the status quo. Under-layered with scraping feedback and nematic (yeah, look it up) drums it’s a great pseudo-cover that reiterates some of the main influencing factors in Heroes of the Mexican Independence Movement’s sound.
A-side single, The Singer Inside Us All, is a track in flux from a slow-down ode to giving things a try to a freaked out, psych reiteration of making a stand. Rhythmically relaxed ukulele gives way to the organ fuelled middle with a good flow that makes the song what it is.
