Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues alternate trailers

Anchorman The Legend Continues alternate teaser trailersIt had been rumoured since the first film blew up into the international cult comedy hit it became, but with the recent release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which hit the the big screen at the end of 2013 it was on like Donkey Kong (or maybe an angry bear fight). The cast from the first film were all back together again and while the alternate teaser trailers below gave us a hint that they’d be as funny as ever the film turned out to be one the year’s best comedies (read our Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues review to find out more).

The teaser trailers didn’t really give too away about the plot itself and the production kept fairly tight lipped on the story for Anchorman 2 until closer to the release date. However, there were a few rumours doing the rounds online to keep everyone second guessing, including a possible relocation to New York, which turned out to be true, but if anything it was all the more sweet (sweet like a small droplet of 7 Up in a nubile college grad’s naval or a single green jelly bean sat in the aged, leather passenger seat of a coal-black 1961 Ferrari California Spyder) not to know too much before we got to see the finished article at the cinema.

Written by Will Ferrell, who returned to the legendary role of newsreader Ron Burgundy, and long time writing partner, Adam McKay, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues had a cinematic release date of the 18th December 2013. However, with the news team in the teaser trailers and the media buzz that had started to build from as early as 2004, expectations were pretty high. Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Super Bad, Funny People) co-produced the film with them having worked with Ferrell and McKay on the original film.

Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner are also back as the near legendary Brick “loud noises” Tamland, Brian “Sex Panther” Fantana and Champ “WHAMMEE” Kind. Christina Applegate resumed her role as Ron Burgandy’s fellow anchor and passionate lover Veronica Corningstone, and their ongoing relationship following the first film is a central aspect of the storyline for the sequel.

There’s a couple of alternative trailers to juice everyone up in advance of seeing the film, if you haven’t already, with Ron, Brian, Champ and Brick walking up to the camera to say something memorable about the move. Needless to say, Brick gets it brilliantly wrong, as ever, but it was a big confirmation that the comedy magic of the original hadn’t been lost for Anchorman 2 when the trailers did the rounds in the summer of 2013.
